Ms. Miriam J. Carter has worked in higher education as an instructor, program director, and grant writer/manager over the last 20 years  focusing on gender and race equity with an emphasis on science, technology, engineering and math. She is an expert consultant for the NationalEquity Pipeline Project funded by NSF and an active member of Women in Engineering Program Advocates Network. She is a founding board member of the African Women’s Cancer Awareness Association, a non-profit organization based in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.Shevolunteers as a dialogue facilitator and trainer for the Montgomery County Public School system’s Study Circles Program that addresses the impact of race and culture on the achievement gap. Her Morgan State University doctoral dissertation research focuses on women’s persistence in undergraduate engineering.
